Who is Ted Pizio?

The inventor of the "Sex on the beach" cocktail

"Sex on the beach" is a light, fruity, orange-colored cocktail containing vodka, peach liqueur, cranberry juice, grenadine syrup, and orange juice.

The smooth cocktail was invented in the 1980s by Ted Pizio, a bartender in Florida, who took the challenge to sell the most peach schnapps in the area by creating a unique cocktail - with success. He named the cocktail after 2 reasons he believed drove tourists to visit Florida for Spring Break - "sex" and the "beach".

Different variations of "Sex on the beach"

There is no limit to creativity – try it!

  • The original: The original drink was made using vodka, peach liqueur, orange juice and grenadine. Today it is more commonly used to replace grenadine with cranberry juice.
  • The "Virgin Sex on the beach": Also known as "cuddles on the beach". Simply replace the peach liqueur with juice or nectar and leave out the vodka. A delicious alternative.
  • Grapefruit: In some bars, bartenders replace orange juice with white grapefruit juice.
  • "Sex in the Driveway": Simply replace the cranberry juice with blue curaçao and the orange juice with lemonade. To get a beautiful blue summer drink.
  • "Woo Woo": This is the harder version of the "Sex on the beach" and is not for the faint of heart. Simply leave out the orange juice to get a Woo Woo.
