RIEDEL Superleggero
Translates to "super light" in Italian
Meaning "super light" in Italian, RIEDEL Superleggero debuted in 2015 as a brilliant testament to the glassware leader's talented glassmaking team.
This series is the evolution of three generations' designs: in 1958, 9th generation Claus Riedel created the world’s first ‘wine-friendly’ glasses with Sommeliers; 10th generation Georg Riedel later adapted each shape to harmonise with specific grape varieties; now 11th generation Maximilian Riedel has spearheaded the next step with the release of RIEDEL Superleggero.
Still using the highly skilled technique of handcrafting, the RIEDEL Superleggero series features slimmer aesthetics with a super light design. This evolved design has been perfected by Maximilian, with the inclusion of an astoundingly long and elegant stem while maintaining durability for the dishwasher. The collection also features the series logo on the base of the glass alongside the RIEDEL logo.
RIEDEL Superleggero is handmade.
Slender and striking
The RIEDEL Superleggero decanter
Built with a bulbous base, the decanter’s bowl-shape design narrows into a slim, long neck fastened with a one-of-a-kind circular necktie seal engraved with RIEDEL's trademark script signature, making this unique design the newest RIEDEL Collector’s Item.
For ease in pouring, the decanter is outfitted with a special recess, or punt, in its base for more convenient handling as well as a sharp, angular opening at its top for pouring wine. Like all of RIEDEL mouth-blown crystal decanters, the Superleggero Decanter is formed freely by hand without the help of any molds by RIEDEL’s master glassblowers.
