Shaped Like A Lyre, Pours Like A Dream
The original clear, lyre-shaped Amadeo decanter was introduced in 2006 to commemorate RIEDEL’s 250th anniversary. The name of the piece is a nod to fellow Austrian, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, whose 250th birthday was also celebrated that year. This hand-blown, crystal glass decanter is shaped like a lyre and pours like a dream.

The optically blown RIEDEL Amadeo Phyllon Decanter a masterpiece in its own right, pays homage to the intricate veins of a leaf. Crafted with meticulous precision, its optic design mirrors the patterns found in nature. As you pour your cherished wines into this decanter, you'll be transported to the serene ambiance of a forest, where the gentle rustling of leaves becomes an ode to our planet's breathtaking beauty.
On the other hand, the RIEDEL Amadeo Luminance Decanter is a symphony of colors, blending four captivating shades of red. It exudes an aura of passion, intensity, and boundless energy, mirroring the vibrancy of life itself and of course the color of wine.
Recommended for red wines, white wines, and sparkling wines, these decanters are more than vessels; they are storytellers, each with a unique narrative to share.

Wine is simply decanted into the vessel’s wider opening and poured into the glass through its slender mouth. Effortless and pleasurable to use, the Amadeo decanter is a reminder that functional objects can be works of art - a classic RIEDEL hallmark.
The shape of the Amadeo decanter has been one of the icons of the decanter collection from Riedel, ever since its launch in 2006.
Like so many classics, the Amadeo collection has featured several re-interpretations and limited editions, however the essential design element, being the shape of a lyre remains constant. "The design is timeless", as Maximilian Riedel explained at the product launch, as is the music of its namesake, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, with whom the company shares the same birth year, 1756.
The glassblowers at the Kufstein glassworks are true masters of their craft and this is shown by the fact that even the challenge of designs with three or more colored stripes can be accomplished by these talented artists.
The Amadeo shape comes in numerous variations:

Two unique and exclusive "signature pieces", with only 500 each of these coveted products available worldwide.
In 2023, the RIEDEL Amadeo Sunshine and RIEDEL Amadeo Moonlight decanters will be the perfect complement the collection. A play of colors in pink, evocative of the warming summer sun, or the unique shade of blue with which the full moon illuminates the nocturnal landscape adorn the curvature of the decanter.
Showing that inspiration can come from the most unlikely of places, the name is a nod to the song made famous by The Jacksons, "Blame It On The Boogie" which is one of Eva Riedel’s favorite songs.
"It takes dedication, skill and feeling to create something as highly complex as these handcrafted decanters, with this extraordinary spectrum of colors. We are very proud of our artists at the glassworks in Kufstein," says Maximilian J. Riedel, visibly proud and grateful.
Introducing the Exquisite
The iconic Amadeo decanter has graced Riedel's decanter repertoire since its inception in 2006. While it has seen various reinterpretations and exclusive releases, its timeless design, characterized by the lyre-shaped silhouette, has remained steadfast. In the words of Maximilian Riedel, "The design is eternal," much like the enduring compositions of its namesake, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who shares the same birth year as our esteemed establishment, 1756. The master glass maker at the Kufstein glassworks continue to showcase their exceptional craftsmanship.
Sharing the same graceful lyre shape as the original Amadeo, the Amadeo Double Magnum Is blown much larger to efficiently decant 3 Liter of wine. Standing Over 26 Inches tall and made in a limited edition of 100 Pieces annually, each masterfully crafted decanter is formed freely without the help of any molds, and proves extremely difficult to create.
Due To its large size, the Amadeo Double Magnum Requires the efforts of three master glassblowers to mouth blow its elegant lyric silhouette, with every decanter’s shape differing slightly, making each a truly unique and functional work of art. Its Challenging curvaceous shape is blown with two openings on either end, the larger for receiving wine, and the smaller for pouring wine into the glass, with the vessel’s large bowl maximizing the surface-‐to-‐air space allowing such a large amount of wine to fully open up and aerate.
The decanter’s clear lead crystal is accented by three tuxedo stripes in Riedel’s Heritage colors, with a large imperial red stripe outlined by two black lines that lovingly follow the contours of its stylized shape.
"The Amadeo Double Magnum Is a wine masterpiece unlike any other," 11th generation Riedel Crystal President & CEO Maximilian Riedel explains. "As A family, we are constantly trying to push the boundaries of luxury wine glassware and dream up the next big object of desire. We Are very proud to have created such a lofty decanter while still maintaining the luxuriously thin crystal Riedel Is known for." The Exquisite design and striking size of the Amadeo Double Magnum makes this decanter the oenophile’s ultimate toy. A Luxurious statement on any table, the sculptural design of the Amadeo Double Magnum Is enough to qualify as art, with Riedel’s Trademark functionality.
A statement of good taste - in many respects!
International design awards and patents underscore the expertise the company has developed over the years in the field of decanters and their functionality.
As with many icons, there have always been new interpretations of Amadeo without ever changing the basic design - the shape of a lute. Amadeo always meets the spirit of the times and taste!
In 2019, the series of coloured Amadeo was introduced - and not just in the form of a line, as with other Riedel designs, no! A new manufacturing technique allows the color to be applied to the decanter over a large area, creating a new and modern aesthetic.
RIEDEL Amadeo Decanter in different Colours
Glassware innovator, RIEDEL, has launched its Amadeo Decanter in several colours. Ever since it was introduced to the market in 2006, the Amadeo Decanter, designed by Stefan Umdasch, has been one of the icons of Riedel’s collection.
A new manufacturing technology introduced at the Austrian production facility makes it possible to apply the colour to large areas of the decanter, giving it a new, modern aesthetic.
RIEDEL Completes Performance Series
For years, Riedel has been reiterating the importance of decanting all wines, whether red, white, young or old, as well as champagne.
In 2019, the award-winning Performance glass series will be complemented by an Amadeo decanter – optically manufactured, in a magnum version, and with a line in the signature green colour of the Performance series.
The decanter is an absolute must have for design and wine lovers. Not only does this piece have a unique look and feel, but it is also unique in its function. These mouth-blown, handmade decanters are produced at the Riedel factory in Kufstein.
