Merlot
This red wine grape variety originates in France's Bordeaux wine region but is now grown across the globe. Merlot is popularly used and is a key ingredient in a number of wines, with it notably being a very high-yielding grape. At its best, Merlot produces dark, plum-like wines that carry fruitcake aromas, and matches well with a variety of meats, including steak, roasted chicken, and slow-cooked beef stew.
