Einfache und elegante Decanter
In 2017, 11th generation Maximilian J. Riedel introduced three decanters in a new collection that takes decanting back to basics: the M Series.
Over the past couple of decades, the RIEDEL brand has become known for its artistic handmade decanters that often have a double-or-triple-decanting function. This means they are not suitable for older wines, as they cannot take such vigorous aeration. The solution was to take a step back to more classic designs.
Maximilian says the M Series’ traditional design caters to current trend: "It’s about going back to basics. Although our more intricate decanters are incredibly popular, some people find them overly complicated, or only bring them out for special occasions. We are now offering an alternative to this, and we believe they reflect our desire for functional and beautiful instruments for everyday use, that never go out of fashion."
The first three pieces (RIEDEL Macon Decanter, RIEDEL Marne Decanter and RIEDEL Margaux Decanter) were followed in 2019 by two additional designs (RIEDEL Medoc Decanter and RIEDEL Mosel Decanter (machine-made)).
The M Series decanters are ideal for more mature red wines, young white wines, champagne and orange wine. The decanters are hand-blown and hand-crafted from crystal glass in the RIEDEL factory in Kufstein. They are easy to handle, sit perfectly in the refrigerator door and are dishwasher-safe.
Maximilian J. Riedel was inspired by the intricate design of cognac and whisky bottles for this collection.
Maximilian says, "I was visiting one of London’s most fashionable fine wine stores and discovered these beautifully crafted cognac and whisky bottles. Some of them were up to 100 years old but still seemed strikingly modern. I reinterpreted their design for my new decanters, in which form and function come together in a perfect symbiosis."
