Pouilly-Fuissé
Sometimes confused with Pouilly Fumé, this appellation differs in that it is made using only Chardonnay grapes rather than Sauvignon blanc. Located in southern Burgundy, this distinguished appellation produces rich, full-bodied wines that possess a bouquet of hazelnut and almond, citrus fruits, honey, breadcrumbs, and brioche. Mineral characteristics of these wines and a balanced acidity mean they pair well with crustaceans and rich foods such as foie gras.
