Nero d'Avola

Considered to be one of Italy's most important native varieties, this red wine grape is grown predominantly in Sicily. Nero d'Avola is used to produce dry, full-bodied wines with sweet tannins, peppery, berry-like flavours, and a slight acidity. Grown in warm conditions, Nero d'Avola is comparable to Malbec and pairs well with rich meats, most notably gamey ones, and lentils as a vegetarian option.
