Grown in the Tokaj-Hegyalja wine region of Hungary, this white grape variety is used to produce both dry and dessert wines. Also grown in Austria, the Furmint grape has the potential to produce highly acidic wines as well as extremely sweet wines affected by noble rot. Dry Furmint wines produce notes of smoke, lime, and pears, while dessert wines take on the scent of sweeter fruits and marzipan.
