Produced in the northern Italian region of Piedmont, Barolo is a red Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG) wine that is considered one of Italy's greatest wines. Made from Nebbiolo grape and with a pale look and floral smell, Barolo has a high acidity and an astringent tannin when sipped that pair it well with mild cheeses, red meats, gamey birds, and truffle.
