Aligoté

Most famously from Burgundy, France, this white grape can also be found growing extensively in Eastern Europe. First recorded in 18th century, Aligoté is believed to be a cross of Pinot Noir and Gouais Blanc. An early ripening variety, Aligoté produces white wines of high acidity, often with subtle flavours of apple and lemon, which are normally enjoyed young.
