Blauburgunder

A German synonym for Pinot noir, this name for the black grape is mostly used in Germany, Austria, and the Germanic parts of Switzerland. These grapes, which grow in pine shaped bunches, are mostly grown in cooler climates such as the Riesling regions of Germany and produce medium-bodied, pale, fruity wines that age to develop vegetal aromas and increase the wine's complexity.
