This French wine Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée is located in the northern Rhône wine region of the country. Most wines produced in this large, cool appellation are made from the red Syrah grape as it is the only red grape permitted under the rules of the appellation, while some white wines are made that are based on Marsanne and/or Roussanne.
