Tannat
Traditionally grown in the Madiran Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée in south-west France, this red wine grape variety is also notably grown in Uruguay, where it is the national grape. Tannat grapes produce wines that are deep-purple in colour with a high level of tannins, and creates flavours of plum, dark chocolate, liquorice, and smoke in wines that then become more spice-driven with age.
